Saintpaulias – Violets from Africa
May 17 – 20, Saintpaulias – Violets from Africa
The diversity of saintpaulias, blooming in spring, is unbelievably great. Their popular name is African violets, though saintpaulias are not related to real violets at all. Sainpaulias belong to the family of gesneriaceae. In that family there are 2900 species and 139 genera of trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, lianas and epiphytes. Alongside saintpaulia, the most well-known among them are: conandron, gloxinia, episcia, aeschynanthus, ramonda, streptocarpus and others. There are 200 species of gesneriaceae on display. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with private collectors. At the weekend rare species of saintpaulias, appropriate pot earth and special fertilizers are on sale. It is also possible to receive consultation on how to grow houseplants.
